Preliminary Concept from M.L. King Jr. Parkway to SE 14th Street

The map above shows the preliminary concept for the Southeast Connector from M.L. King Jr. Parkway to SE 14th Street. This portion will be under construction from the spring of 2008 through 2012.
The maps below show alternative alignments from SE 14th Street to US 65. The environmental analysis for this area is currently being conducted. More information, including the results of this analysis, will be posted as it becomes available.
Updated Alternatives Under Consideration (Fall 2007)
The Study Team is still considering the Yellow Alternative and the Brown Alternative as shown on the updated alternatives map below. These alternatives are being fully studied and evaluated as part of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement. Having these two alternatives plus the "No-Buil"” alternative under study in the DEIS will allow for a more complete evaluation of the pros and cons of different alignments for the Southeast Connector. The Yellow Alternative has been identified as the Recommended Preferred Alternative at this time.

Initial Screening of Corridors
The maps below show potential corridors for the Southeast Connector between SE 15th Street and US 65. The study team divided the study area into three sub-areas (A, B and C) to assist in identifying potential corridors.

Sub-area A: SE 15th to SE 21st Street

Sub-area B: SE 21st to SE 30th Street

Sub-area C: SE 30th to US 65

The study team screened more than 40 potential sections within the three sub-areas to determine which sections worked best as potential corridors and which ones had problems or issues that would preclude them from further consideration. The potential sections follow existing streets, railroad right of way, or off-street connections. These sections combine to form potential corridors across the three sub-areas. Each map displays the corridor sections eliminated from further consideration and those that will carry forward as potential corridors.
Southeast Diagonal Study
Alternatives depicted within the links below were developed as part of the 1987 Martin Luther King Parkway Environmental Impact Statement (to SE 15th Street), and the 1999 SE Diagonal Study (from SE 15th Street to U.S. 65) and are considered PRELIMINARY at this time.
