Project OverviewThe Southeast (SE) Connector Project consists of two phases (also referred to as Phase I and II). Each phase has different components that will proceed as funding becomes available. The components of Phase I and II include: SE Connector Phase I SW 2nd to SE 15th Streets map »
SE Connector Phase II SE 15th Street to U.S. 65 map »
The SE Connector Phase I is further along the project development process than Phase II. Phase I improvements were originally identified, studied and received environmental clearance during the MLK Parkway EIS process that occurred during the 1980s. As such, the improvements are ready for design and construction. Phase II of the SE Connector is just now beginning the process of selecting an alternative and receiving environmental approval. The design and construction stages cannot begin until the process has run its course and a preferred alternative has been cleared. The project team will build off of the previous work of the Southeast Diagonal Corridor – Project Location and Major Investment Study completed in 1999.
